Everett Fly has been awarded a 2021 Historic Preservation Medal by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Fly’s nomination was sponsored by Texas DAR San Antonio de Bexar and the national society chapters.
“Historic preservation is one of our three missions of DAR,” Karen McCloskey, current regent of the local chapter, tells the San Antonio Express-News. “And the San Antonio de Bexar Chapter was honored to nominate Everett Fly for his commitment to recording and preserving the histories, places and landmarks created and used by African Americans and thus creating a more complete history of the United States.”
